Life circumstances convince us that prayer is impossible. We just don’t have time or energy to do it. It isn’t until life circumstances show us how utterly weak, powerless and needy we are that we turn to prayer. Yet it really is hard to grow a faithful prayer life. Don’t be discouraged as that is true for everyone even the Saints. Start small.

"Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, or even at their difficulty, as at the love with which we do them." Saint Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower of the Little Way)

Commit to pray just one decade of the Rosary each day. You will find that one day your desire to pray will increase and the ability to make time will change. You will be able to find the time and place to pray the entire Rosary. And then another growth will occur and you will pray for all that is important to you and all that is important to God in between decades. In this way your prayer life will grow. But don’t fret starting small and being small for quite some time. It is the little things that in eternity yield the fruit of holiness in our world and selves.

"Virtues are formed by prayer. Prayer suppresses anger. Prayer prevents emotions of pride and envy. Prayer draws into the soul the Holy Spirit, and raises a man to heaven." Saint Aprem of Edessa
